40 years

Photographing this couple has been one of the highlights in my photography career. Just the kindest people and so sweet to each other. I was so privileged to take pictures of them to commemorate their 40th anniversary at the place they were married (Salt Lake City Utah Temple). They didn't get any pictures at the temple the day they were actually married, so it was a wonderful gift to them when their kids surprised them by hiring me to take some of them at their special place.

This is how all the pictures started out. If this isn't the sign of being married for 40 years, I don't know what is.

She may look cute, but...

She's quite devilish. Since moving into this apartment, Lucy has become the WORST sleeper. She takes forever to go to bed, getting out more times than I'd like count, waking up in the middle of the night, and then again at the crack of dawn. Poor Isaac has finally gotten used to her antics and can sleep through most of it.

Tonight was the topper. I went in their room to check on her because I could hear her doing something. I found her up on the top bunk, sitting next to Isaac's head with a bag of all of our hair supplies and a can of hairspray. He was sound asleep...and his hair was dripping with hairspray. Devilish I tell you.

Laura and Jared

My little sister and her husband spent the night at our house on Friday. They slept on the floor and the couch in the front room. Geoff said it looked like we were in a refuge camp. We really love this apartment...

Aren't they dang cute? I have now determined that I'm jealous of my sister's eyebrows.

House update

Here's some new pictures of the house. We're still crossing our fingers for the first or second week in January.

The kitchen/dining room with a mini peak at the lovely wood floors. We're waiting on some taller french doors.

The laundry room. Is it wrong to love a tile so much? They are penny rounds, though with the wide angle, they look hexagonal, don't be deceived.

We hope to see lots of this going around in months to come. I can't wait to see this room without the wood being covered up!

Santa

Last year this happened when Lucy and Isaac sat on Santa's lap. I was determined this year to not have a repeat so we talked about how nice Santa is over and over again. I even had her view him from afar at the mall. It seemed like we had overcome the fear...until the night of our ward party. When he came out, she started shaking and saying "I cared (scared) Santa." Let's just say it didn't go well, again. She didn't even get as far as his lap to give us a real back-arching freakout.

Isaac, however, was shaking too, but with excitement. He had made his Christmas list some time ago and had been waiting to give it to one of Santa's helpers, because clearly, the real Santa only comes on Christmas day-duh mom.

Geoff bought Christmas books for the kids to open the last 12 days of Christmas. It's been a fun thing for all of us and a great new tradition.

The Wilson Family

So I know I've been a lame blogger lately. Forgive me. Truth be told life is a bit crazy now. The house takes up a HUGE amount of my time (don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining), I had the flu on Sunday (24hr thankfully), and I'm finishing up several design projects before the holidays. And did I mention it's 2.2 degrees outside?

That being said, here's some shots from the lovely Wilson family that I did a couple weeks ago. It was real, real cold and the light was quickly fading so we had to limit our location, but I'm pleased that we got some great shots with all eight of them smiling!

House update

Things continue to move along at a fast breaking speed. We couldn't be happier about it. The house has been dry-walled and is now being taped and mudded. I guarantee the workers think we are nutty coming over all the time with massive grins on our faces, saying "thank you" a million times. What can I say, we are SO excited.

I might note here, because I've been getting some grief, these pictures are all taken with my WIDE angle lens to get everything in. So while it is a sweet home, it isn't quite as grand (ie. large) as my camera makes it seem.

Full of thanks...and a whole lot of food

I've always loved Thanksgiving. I think it's due to the wonderful memories I have growing up and going to my grandparent's house on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, making homemade apple cider, getting dressed up for dinner (in a stretchy skirt of course), and spending time with my cousins and aunt and uncles around a huge fire made by my grandpa.

Though we were not with MY aunts, uncles and cousins this year, my kids were with THEIRS. I'd like to think they are starting to love the holiday as much as I do and they'll look back on these years spent with family fondly.

While I did not get pictures on Thanksgiving, I did the day after when we met up with my brother, sister, grandparents and their spouses, and cousin Sofia of course. We took the kids to Wheeler farm to see the farm animals, had a yummy lunch, games, naps and out to dinner for birthday celebration for my younger sister Laura. It was a wonderful day for all. I'm thankful for ALL my family!

Lucy and Sofia.

No animals were injured in the taking of this picture. In fact, this animal was not even aware Isaac was on him. Thanks Uncle Matt for putting my son on this ridiculously huge animal!

I thought we had moved past this smile. Apparently not.

Potty training

100% at home, not quite as good out and about. We'll get it though.

The Harris Family

They welcomed another sweet baby girl 6 weeks ago and oh my is she darling! Just as sweet as can be, and not a cry to be heard. I was drooling from the moment I walked in their house as the mamma is an amazing interior designer, drop dead gorgeous and such a pleasure to be around. What a treat to take pictures of the newest member of this family!

Big sister.

Six girls

15 minute session with my six beautiful nieces and their parents...easiest shoot ever.

I LOVE this picture. It's so...them. Each of their personalities are oozing out in this shot.

Dover Christmas pictures

We had limited time and too much sun, but when it went down, we got the best ones of the evening. I love this family, even though I'm mad that Amy wouldn't let me post my favorite one.

If you're interested in pictures for your Christmas cards, book right away! I will not be taking clients after December 19th, till the second week in January so that I can enjoy the holidays with my family.
