A deliciously festive treat

Amy and I made these mummy cupcakes. Livi and Isaac were suppose to. Isaac did manage to frost a couple, while Livi lasted only through the licking of the beaters.

Our trip to Quebec

Wow, that's all I can say. I had NO IDEA!If you are a lover of France, as we are, you need to visit Quebec city. It was amazing, beautiful, and very French - much more than we expected. Everyone speaks French there; the TV in is French, radio, signs, everything (for some reason I found that pleasantly surprising)! The nice part is that they speak English too (for the most part) which is nice for those like me that can understand most everything, but aren't as confident in replying.

We really had an amazing trip. The food was to die for, the hotel was lovely, the company-perfect. We missed our little Isaac, but we did try and soak up the alone time with Lucy and each other.

Gear up for a ton of pictures of Geoff wearing our child, and me in the same coat (which incidentally, I purchased there, but mistakenly left in the hotel while packing - they haven't found it yet; I can't really talk about it, I'm so upset).

And can't let this shot of Lucy in her first swimsuit go without a post. Thank you Auntie Sara!

Ile D'Orleans

Some fellow travelers at our hotel told us about this island and it ended up being one of our most favorite excursions of the whole trip. It took just an hour and a half to drive around the whole thing and was just breathtaking at every turn. Beautiful New England type houses, gorgeous trees with turning leaves, cute little shops and farms, and a lovely shoreline are just some of the things we enjoyed about it.

The apple orchards on the island

They had just finished picking at this orchard, but one of the endearing things about this place island is they have several "you pick" places. This being one of them. They make cider, vinegar and just about anything you can think of out of apples here. I was just wishing someone was around to take a group shot of us!

A tribute to the Pain au Chocolat

Let's all take a moment to appreciate the sheer delightfulness of the pain au chocolat (a croissant filled with dark chocolate). Geoff and I die over them and ate them daily on our trip several years ago to France. When we came across this darling bakery and they had them, you bet we did a jump for joy.

Montmorency Falls

"The falls, at 83 meters (272 ft.) high, are the highest in the province of Quebec and 30 m (98 ft.) higher than Niagara Falls."

They were beautiful, but Geoff refuses to believe they are higher than Niagara Falls.

A walk through Vieux-Quebec

Can't ever pass up a red door!

Geoff and Lucy in the old city

Geoff and Lucy in front of this darling mini street.

There were hundreds of old canons set up around the perimeter of the city.

How cute is this little plaza. Seriously, this city is amazing.

Montmorency Park

Our cute fall baby.

A halfway decent picture taken by a passerby.

My darling travel companions.

A tribute to those who settled Quebec. How beautiful are the trees!

I've always wanted to do this

This fountain is located in a roundabout right in front of the Parliament building. We drove by it several times and I told Geoff I'd always wanted to stand in a fountain with an umbrella for a picture. The last day there while going around the old city, we went by it again. Geoff spotted a small crew filming the fountain for a commercial. It was if the stars aligned. I borrowed their boots and hiked it into the fountain, giggling all the way. They all thought I was nuts, maybe I am, but it was fun.

Can't get enough of this hat, or the girl wearing it.

Here's Lulu hanging out in the hotel with me while Geoff was presenting at the conference. Lucy wore this hat a lot as you'll see because it was a bit nippy. For those who asked, the hat was purchased at Dillards at a screaming sale and I have no idea the brand, it doesn't say.

We're back!

And boy did we miss this guy!

Pictures from our awesome trip to Quebec soon to come.

An evening at Cornbellys

Boots and bums

Kiddo update...

Lucy: back to sleeping once a night, for the most part. We'll see how long that lasts, I've probably cursed myself now.

Isaac: back to taking naps, hooray! Later nights, but I have my sane working hours back. He's 100% going #1 in the toilet, but pretty much 0% on #2 in the toilet!!! My poor washing machine hates me. Any suggestions?

Feeding the ducks and playing at the park

We had a wonderful day to day with the Dovers, as always. We met by daddy Dover's work and fed the ducks. Though the kids look in these pictures as if they are enjoying it, they really were mortified of the ducks. They practically threw whole pieces of bread at them an ran since otherwise they got mobbed. After, we took lunch to the park and enjoyed the, dare I say, MAGNIFICENT weather!
