So Amy and I decided to treat ourselves and the kids to a trip to McDonalds. It was well worth it. Isaac has gotten quite brave on playground equipment and took off down the slides and up the stairs, returning briefly for a bite of chicken nuggets from time to time. Livi got a bit more brave towards the end, but was quite content to watch all the crazy kids running around. I think the highlight of the excursion was when I spotted Isaac throwing something away, only to realize that it was a small child's shoe which I then had to fish out of the garbage. I really think that the picture of Ronald "watching over" the kids is one of my most favorite pictures. Creepy! Who ever thought up that mascot did not have children.

Emily and Ryan and Luke came over on Saturday and we went to Utah Lake. It was perfect weather! We had a great time together. Here are some pictures from the day.

It doesn't get much better of a day than this for me. I went running in the morning, worked in the yard with my boys, then Geoff and I went to the temple and then to Seven Peaks with Isaac. Boy am I going to miss the summertime!

Ok, so I couldn't help myself, he looked too cute. We were out working in the backyard early this morning and I let Isaac go naked so he could run around in the sprinklers and have a break from the diaper. Next thing I knew, he was out weeding in the garden, and sweeping the walkway. What a helpful, nudy boy.

Isaac went down the BIG slide all by himself for the first time....and about twenty times after that! He climbed up the stairs and took off sliding to the bottom. He LOVED it!

We went over to our friend's house to let Isaac play with their little boy who is one day younger than him. We also let off some fireworks. As you can see, Isaac is fascinated with them, makes me a little nervous. It was a beautiful evening and such a nice temperature. I'm grateful to live in Utah where Pioneer Day is so well celebrated. I feel very blessed to have faithful ancestors who crossed the plains and endured many trials.

We were over at some friends' house and they had this lawn mower. Isaac LOVED it! We couldn't take him away from it the rest of the evening. Guess I better find one of these.

After dropping off Isaac and Geoff's sister's house in Vegas and driving away wiping a tear or two, we met up with the rest of our church group for the hike down the Grand Canyon. We got there at one in the morning and hiked down. When we finally made it to the indian village at the bottom, four hours later, we had had a total of four hours sleep in two days. Needless to say, we were more than beat. The campsite was still another 2 miles aways, so after a quick rest on the dusty ground, we strapped on our 40lb packs again and hiked the rest of the way there. What an amazing and breath-taking trip it was.

These are the falls right by where we camped. I can't tell you how excited we were to see these after a long day of hiking in the heat. We quickly set up camp, and rushed back to these for a cool dip, and a little jumping. Isn't the water amazing? It's that color due to the travertine rocks.

When we arrived at Beaver Falls, we hiked a bit more and found this delightful cliff. It doesn't look so high in the pictures, but believe me, it takes your breath away as you jump off it!

The bottom of the canyon here was filled with wild grapes. It was beautiful, but quite rough on the legs!

We hiked out at three in the morning and made it to the top about three hours later. Boy was I happy to see the top of that canyon.

We're off to the Grand Canyon to hike down to Havasupai. We'll be back on Saturday. Geoff and I are both so excited, yet a little sad at the same time, knowing we'll be leaving Isaac for so long. I'm so greatful to Geoff's sister Whitney for watching him for the week. We're going to miss him!
